Gemini Titan Unveils ‘Time Interval’ Prop Bets for High-Frequency Sports Wagers

Gemini Predictions, the Winklevoss twins’ prediction market venture, is preparing to launch a new breed of sports contracts called “time interval prop bets”, offering bettors the chance to wager on specific portions of a game rather than the final score. The company’s self-certification filing with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission was recently shared on X by gaming attorney Daniel Wallach.

What Are Time Interval Prop Bets?

These contracts let participants bet on points, goals, runs, or other statistics within a defined segment of a sporting event. Think of it as an over-under bet, but confined to a specific quarter, half, or even a single minute of play.

Contracts are coded as “SPORTSTOTAL1” and follow templates such as:

  • “Will the points recorded in the 1st quarter of Atlantic Hawks vs. Boston Celtics be at least 30?”

  • “Will Manchester United score at least one goal between 80:00–90:00 of Saturday’s match?”

The filings highlight NFL, MLB, and NHL events initially, but Gemini plans to expand offerings across other sports and competitions, including totals for sets, strokes, laps, and more. Time intervals are flexible, defined in minutes, hours, or even specific time zones.

High-Frequency Betting: Exciting but Risky

While in-game micro-betting is growing in popularity among mainstream sportsbooks, it comes with concerns:

  • Higher risk of problem gambling: Fast-paced bets mimic casino-style action, potentially increasing player losses.

  • Integrity issues: Narrow interval bets are easier to manipulate. Past scandals, such as intentional misthrows in MLB games, show how micro-bets can incentivize spot-fixing.

Although Gemini’s current contracts focus on team totals rather than individual athletes, critics warn that the narrower the betting window, the higher the vulnerability to manipulation—even in sports like tennis or golf.

What’s Next?

The new time interval prop bets are not yet live, but Gemini confirms they are coming soon. As the line between traditional sports betting and high-frequency “micro-markets” continues to blur, these contracts could reshape how fans engage with live sports—while also raising new questions about fairness and oversight.
